Mahendra Institute of Engineering and Technology, a recognized leader in professional and carrier oriented education, imparting value based education for men and women instituted in the year 2009 funded by the Mahendra Educational Trust (MET) Was founded in 1978 by the Chairman of the trust Shri. M. G. Bharath Kumar, a renowned educationist and philanthropist. The trust gallops eighteen educational institutions early from schools to higher learning technical institutions. The institution ascertained its wider network with renowned educational institutions and industries for the faculty promotion and student development. Mahendra group of educational institutions are recognized by its service, dedication intended for education, contribution for the communal upliftment from 1970 itself.  

       The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2009. It has 11 Laboratories and a workshop for imparting practical training to the students. These laboratories and workshop help students to undertake project works, design and build machines and equipments.              


   The Mechanical Engineering Department of Mahendra Institute of Engineering and Technology was established from the inception of the college. The department offers four years degree program intended for a deep insight into the discipline and enables promising Engineers to acquire skills required to succeed both individually as well as to suit with the Industry requirement. The department has a team of highly qualified, dedicated and motivated faculty members and well equipped laboratory which facilitates for the betterment of the students and also to steer and facilitate their learning to bloom as a full-fledged Mechanical Engineers.  

     The field of Mechanical Engineering, which encompasses many exciting subjects and a broad range of teaching and modern facilities to fulfill the requirements of the students, are grouped precisely as Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Power Plant Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics and Industrial Engineering & Management. This has been among the fastest growing and most challenging technologies that enable the development of the modern knowledgeable society.
